I grew up on a road that used to have an accident monthly, but it wasn’t until Christmas 1975, when a close friend was involved in an accident outside my house that made me do something about it learning first aid. So January 1976, I became a member of St John Kingswood Nursing Cadets.
In February 1982 I was asked to help teach the cadets (11-16 year olds) and became their Divisional Superintendent in November that year.
Nowadays I run Speedwell Quadrilateral Division, which means we entertain St John members of all ages and run programmes for Badgers, Cadets and Adults every Monday night. But that’s not all…
… I am a qualified first aid trainer and teach regularly both to my division and external groups. Possibly more notably, I have received the high accolade of Officer Sister of the Order.
I began working with Tora Judo Kai when my son became a club member in 1995 and started as their club treasurer. I’ve watched the development of the association and am proud to be involved in their events covering first aid (with a fantastic team of helpers from my Speedwell division). If you ever see us at any BBK events feel free to come and say hello.
And if you fancy yourself as a first aider please contact me!
